Dorothy Bennett and her Ancestors

Elizabeth Misselbrook née Ireland (1779 to 1853)

Elizabeth Misselbrook née Ireland was a grandmother of Frances Bennett who was a grandmother of Dorothy Bennett, the wife of Sidney Alfred Parsons.

Elizabeth was born in the village of North Stoneham in Hampshire but lived for much of her life in Chilworth, a neighbouring village. She was baptised in North Stoneham on the 5th of September, 1779.

Chilworth lies between Southampton and Romsey, and is marked with a red C on the map. North Stoneham is immediately to the east of Chilworth.

Elizabeth’s parents were Samuel and Mary Ireland. She had two brothers, Samuel and John, and a sister called Sarah.

On the 18th of March 1802 Elizabeth married Thomas Misselbrook in the parish church in Chilworth. Thomas came from Chilworth and worked as a gamekeeper. The family lived in North Stoneham during the early years of their marriage, but then moved to Chilworth.

Thomas and Elizabeth had nine children. Their eldest daughter, Elizabeth, was a great-grandmother of Dorothy Bennett.

During the latter part of her life Elizabeth lived with her husband, Thomas, in Chilworth. She died there in May 1853.
