The Will and Probate of Charles Light of Chilworth, 1878



 
This is the last Will and Testament of me Charles Light of Chilworth in the County of Southampton Innkeeper I direct all my just debts and funeral and Testamentary expenses to be paid out of my personal estate as soon as conveniently can be after my decease I appoint my dear Wife Ann Luana and Walter William Vine of Upham in the County of Southampton Grocer Executors and Trustees of this my Will I devise unto my said Wife and the said Walter William Vine and their heirs   Firstly All that my freehold semi detached Message and premises now in the occupation of Mrs Westhorp and being the northernmost of two semi detached messuages known as Woolcot Place Shirley in the County of Southampton   Secondly All that my freehold Message and premises adjoining the last mentioned messuage and being the southernmost of Woolcot Place aforesaid   And thirdly All that my three freehold Messages and premises situate in Church Road Shirley aforesaid And Also all that my freehold land message and premises situate in Hammersmith Street Shirley aforesaid and now in the occupation of Richard Dumper as Lessee thereof for a term of Nine Hundred and eighty four years Together with the appurtenances to the said several messages and premises respectively belonging Upon Trust that my said Wife and the said Walter William Vine and the survivor of them and the heirs executors or administrators of such survivors or his assigns ( hereinafter referred to as my said Trustees or Trustee) shall during the life of my said Wife receive the rents and profits of the said messages and premises and by and out of the same pay all taxes and other outgoings whatsoever which shall be payable in respect of the said Premises or any of them and also the expenses of keeping the said premises and every of them in good repair and order and the expense of insuring the said premises against loss or damage by fire (so far as the same respectively shall not be bound by the Tenants or occupiers of the same premises or as my said Trustees or Trustee shall think fit to pay the same) And shall pay the net residue of the said rents and profits unto my said Wife during her life for her sole and separate use   And after the death of my said Wife I Direct that my said Trustees or Trustee shall stand possessed of the hereditaments and premises and the net rents and profits thereof as to the Message and premises firstly hereinbefore mentioned in Trust for my Son Harry Light and And as to the Message and premises secondly hereinbefore devised In Trust for my Daughter Ann Smith Wife of Frederick Smith for her sole and separate use And as to the four Messuages land and premises thirdly hereinbefore mentioned In Trust for my Son Charles William Light And as to the rest residue and remainder of my Estate property and effects of every kind both real and personal and wheresoever situate I Give devise and bequeath the same to my said Wife her heirs executors and administrators for her sole and separate use and benefit absolutely I constitute my said Executors Guardians of my said Son Charles William during his minority I devise all the real estate which at my decease shall be vested in me as Mortgagee or Trustee to my said Trustees or Trustee subject to the Trusts and equities affecting the same In Witness whereof I the said Charles Light have to this my Will set my hand this nineteenth day of April One thousand eight hundred and seventy seven.

Signed by the said Testator Charles Light as and for his last Will Testament in the presence of us present at the same time in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses.

Proved at Winchester the eighth day of February 1878 by the Oaths off Ann Luana Light widow of the Relict and Walter William Vine the Executors to whom administration was granted.

The Testator Charles Light was late of Chilworth in the County of Southampton Innkeeper who died on the twenty fifth day of November 1877 at the Clump Inn Chilworth aforesaid.
