Mike Parsons' Family Tree

Mike has been researching his family tree on his father's side.

One of Mike's ancestors was Charles Parsons. He was born in Holton, Somerset, England and he married Ann Jukes, from Maperton, a neighbouring parish, on Christmas Eve in 1807. They moved a few miles west to Marston Magna where Edward, one of their sons, was born and lived all his life. Edward had a son called John who moved to Southampton where he became a well known publican. John Parsons died in Southampton in 1925. Sidney Alfred Parsons was one of John's sons. He moved to Australia with his wife Dorothy where Frank Parsons, Mike's father, was born. Sidney, Dorothy and their children returned to Southampton where they both died young, in 1924 and 1923 respectively.

The surname "Parsons" was common in South East Somerset during the 18^th and 19^th centuries. Mike's other ancestors include Elizabeth Taylor of Sherborne in Dorset, Harriet Elza Boyes of Bishopstoke in Hampshire, and Dorothy Rose Bennett (daughter of George Henry Bennett and Rose Smith) from Chilworth in Hampshire.

Mike has not (yet) attempted to trace his ancestry on his mother's side. She is Danish and her parents shared the same surname, Nielsen, which is one of the commonest in Denmark.
